Accra, Ghana – July 31, 2026 — Ghana has officially launched the Pre-Verification of Conformity (PVoC) Programme for imported used vehicles, with implementation set to commence on 1 October 2026.
The landmark announcement was made by the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) during a national media engagement held at its headquarters in Accra, marking a major step towards improving road safety, consumer protection and the quality of imported used vehicles entering the country.
As part of the implementation framework, Omanbapa Auto & PVOC Ltd has been engaged as the third-party implementation partner, working closely with internationally accredited Type A inspection organizations on behalf of the Ghana Standards Authority to facilitate the delivery of the PVoC Programme.
The company is coordinating technical partnerships with global conformity assessment and inspection agencies to ensure that regulated used vehicles exported to Ghana comply with Ghana's approved standards before shipment.
A New Era of Vehicle Quality Assurance
The PVoC Programme introduces a mandatory pre-shipment conformity assessment process under which imported used vehicles will undergo inspection and verification in their country of export before being shipped to Ghana.
Only vehicles that successfully satisfy Ghana's prescribed technical, safety, and environmental requirements will be issued with a Certificate of Conformity (CoC), an essential document required for importation under the new regime.
